Early 2009 Games Outlook

by on Jan.20, 2009, under Games

I was sitting here thinking about what games might be worth watching this year so I thought I might as well turn it into a blog post. :)

The early part of the year looks surprisingly good. Normally, this time of the year is when we get very little in the way of A-list titles. 2009 will be something of an exception.

F.E.A.R. 2 hits stores on February 10th, 2009. I was a huge fan of the first game because of the thick atmosphere of the game. It scared the crap outta me, more than a few times. The original developers, Monolith, are behind this one. Unlike the terrible story expansion in 2007 “F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate” (I won’t even link to this so you don’t accidently buy it) which was developed by TimeCrap Studios, I think.

F.E.A.R. 2 promises more varied enviroments. In the first game, you spent most of your time in drab looking offices. In the new game, you’ll spend some time outside and see a much wider variety of locales. Check out some of the screenshots below. This game is going to be a looker.

The other really big title in the first quarter of 2009 is Resident Evil 5. Word on the street is this will play very much the way the last one did but that’s not a bad thing. The graphics look pretty good and the basic storyline is interesting.

There’s not much detail about this one right now but no question… this game will be a blockbuster. It hits the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the same day, Friday, March 13th. Screenshots below.
